A Reference

We require a reference from your Temple President or other local authority. Once you have submitted your registration, we will send them our standard reference questionnaire by email. Please contact your authority separately, and let them know to expect this email. They should complete it and send by return email as soon as possible. Please note that you will not be able to begin your course unless we have received this reference.

The Sannyasa Ministry methods of evaluating sannyasa candidates has evolved over the years.  Principally the methods of evaluation are by:

2. Associating with and being trained by mentors
3. Missions
4. Evaluations by seniors, equals and others
5. Essays
6. Personal interviews

First seminar: How Sannyasa Candidates are Assessed
The Sannyasa Ministry expects sannyasa candidates to have a clear vision of what they expect to accomplish in their practice of Sadhana Bhakti as well as service in the mission of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu under the guidance of Srila Prabhupada and his representatives.  What the Sannyasa Ministry according to Srila Prabhupada’s teachings sees the general vision and mission that a sannyasa candidate should have will be explained in this seminar.
Second seminar: Studying Srila Prabhupada Books
Part of the art and science of studying Srila Prabhupada’s books will be explained in this seminar.
Third seminar: Purpose Centered Life
A sannyasa candidate must according to guru, sadhu, and sastra, have a clear vision of the mission that one is trying to accomplish in one’s spiritual life.  One should also know the progressive stages of development in spiritual practices that lead to the practical manifestation of that vision and the accomplishment of that mission
Instructors will include Prahladananda Swami, Mahendra dasa (Bulgaria), Krsna dasa Kaviraja dasa (Canada), Shrivas Pandita dasa (Myanmar), Shrives dasa (Africa) and others.
All present sannyasa candidates are required to attend. Anyone who is thinking of applying to become a sannyasa candidate in the future can attend.  Leaders who are recommending devotees to become sannyasa candidates are encouraged to attend.
