05.10.2019 - 12.09.2020
The Māyāpur Institute had inaugurated Bhāgavata-vicāra, a weekly study of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam for the Mayapur resident devotees in January 2017. So far, we have finished Cantos 1, 2 and 3.
Now, we wish to start from the 4th Canto with sessions on Saturday afternoons. Those who take up the course as students deal with assessments, but there is also a facility to simply listen to the classes as listeners. Those who have attended all the classes as listeners or attended the classes and completed the assessments as students will receive certificates from the Māyāpur Institute. The Māyāpur Institute intends to complete all of these Cantos one by one, and then restart with the First Canto; so, devotees who had not taken up the First, Second and Third Cantos in Bhāgavata-vicāra can still join in from the Fourth Canto. You can attend the Overview of Srimad Bhagavatam Cantos 1, 2 and 3 that will be held on 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th Sep 2019 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Chaitanya Bhavan.
The fee for this course is Rs. 2000 for students and Rs. 1000 for listeners.
This course offers the residents of Śrī Māyāpur a fine opportunity to continuously hear, remember and repeat the glories of the Lord as described in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, which is itself highly recommended in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.8.36: “O Kṛṣṇa, those who continuously hear, chant and repeat Your transcendental activities, or take pleasure in others’ doing so, certainly see Your lotus feet, which alone can stop the repetition of birth and death.”
Classes will take place every Saturday except on major festival holidays and a Gaura-pūrṇimā break from 8th February to 13th March 2020.
The Fourth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam discusses the yajña performed by Dakṣa, the importance of Lord Śiva as the greatest Vaiṣṇava and as the Lord’s representative, the life of Śrī Dhruva Mahārāja and his firm determination to please the Supreme Lord, the life of Pṛthu Mahārāja, the ideal Vaiṣṇava-kṣatriya, and the teachings of Śrī Nārada Muni to King Prācīnabarhi and the Pracetās.
Venue: Mayapur Institute Classroom, 2nd Floor, Chaitanya Bhavan.
Closed book assessments: 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm.
Class timings: 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
Fees for the whole 4th Canto (10 months):
For Students – Rs. 2000
For Listeners – Rs. 1000
Anyone anxious to associate with Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is eligible to register (subject to the minimum age of 18 years). It is essential that you register at MI office in Chaitanya Bhavan by paying the full amount of fees before the classes commence.
